Bowen's disease is also called squamous cell carcinoma. It is a form of skin cancer. Bowen’s disease is a growth of abnormal cells that is confined to the outer layer of the skin. It usually appears as a slow-growing red and scaly patch. SCC in situ is usually a red, scaly patch. It tends to be seen on areas frequently exposed to the sun.
