Belize is a very small country. As a matter of fact, Massachusetts has a larger land area than Belize. It also has the lowest population density all over the world. By 2007, there were barely 310,000 registered inhabitants. These things, however, brought charm to Belize. Because of its laid back atmosphere, interesting culture, and English-speaking inhabitants, there are thousands of individuals coming from different corners of the globe that flock the area to either visit the Mayan ruins or to go sailing in Belize.

If you want to do some sailing in Belize, you better start at Rio Dulce, Guatemala. It's a very large river that spans around 30 miles and is the entrance to the Caribbean Sea. It also boasts of a lake-like stretch, which called El Golfete. This body of water becomes alive not only because of its shimmering waters but also of the aquatic life such as manatees and sea birds that tend to linger in Rio Dulce. Nevertheless, don't limit yourself with the waters of Rio Dulce. After all, this is still an aquatic community. Villages such as El Relleno and Fronteras have not footpaths or roads that will take you outside of town, but you can have fun staying in its beautiful boat docks.

You also don't want to miss out visiting Bay Islands, Honduras, which is highly popular not only for its delightful people but of the many islets that spell ultimate holiday. For instance, if you're looking for some privacy, you can bring your yacht or boat to Roatan, the most developed in the Bay Islands. It features a very long ridge and unspoiled beach, which is great for water sports, canoeing, and kayaking. Utila, on the other hand, is the most ideal destination for those who love to explore the barrier reef but aren't licensed divers yet. Getting your certification here will cost you very little. There are also several dive shops to choose from, so you know that you will always get the best deal in the end.

Visiting the Maya ruins at Tikal will be the perfect alternative for sailing in Belize. You can begin your journey at Aquateca, an archaeological site that where active during the Classical Period of Peten. You can then move to Quiriga. It's one of the smallest cities in this Mayan region, and yet the fascinating finds will never disappoint you. There are beautiful series of monuments that encloses the area, one of which is the biggest block of stone that was made by the Mayans. You can also find 4 distinct rocks that resemble ancient mythical creatures.
