Why do people dream in sleep?
The question above has given birth to countless theories and explanations. The secret behind dreaming has fascinated mankind across the globe. Eminent psychologists and behavioral scientists have come up with many interpretations on the nature and existence of dreams. But, still one feels the secret of dreams is far from being revealed.
Scores of books and reading material on dream analysis and their association with real life happenings are available in the market. These books and manuals are one-dimensional and have failed to give the holistic reason behind dreams. The novel understanding of why we dream comes from the new research conducted by eminent psychologist Griffin. A new model has been developed by taking into account the psychology and biology of dreams which has found acceptance from many eminent practitioners of behavioral science and psychologists.
Many people agree with the fact that dreams have association with emotions. Emotions give birth to dreams. However, not all emotions can cause dreams. The emotions arising in our minds that remain unexpressed cause us to dream. In other words, the emotions which don’t find an outlet take the form of dreams. So, if you were angry with your wife for some reason and couldn’t find an opportunity to express it, then you may well dream of a similar situation in the night. And if you have ventilated your anger and annoyance through any channel in the day, then you may not dream on this situation in the night
Human mind is very powerful and it works while people are in sleep. The brain flushes out emotions by producing a dream of a situation which is similar to the real life circumstances. If you mull over furiously on the same event the next day then you might have the same dream as the human brain reacts to a similar problem in similar way.
So, the next time any emotion arises in your mind, try to express it because it may resurface in your dreams. Have a sound sleep!!
