When we’re young, we all have lots of energy. As we reach our twenties, this starts to level off, and by the time we hit our fifties, we look at the energy of the kids around us and wish we could 'buy it by the bottle.' But maybe we can! What is this new miracle nutrient for heart health?

Coenzyme Q10 is a fat-soluble vitamin-like substance found in mitochondria -- the energy-producing powerhouses inside of every cell in our bodies. It’s one of the most powerful antioxidants in that regulates other antioxidants. It is called a 'co-enzyme' because it’s an organic, non protein-based molecule required for the proper functioning of enzymes. Cellular enzymes catalyze all the chemical reactions that take place within our cells, particularly aerobic (consumption of oxygen by the body) metabolism, and they all need the help of Co Q10.

As we age, the level of Co Q10 in our cells begins to diminish and we feel the effect of this. The older we get, the more our concentrations of Co Q10 decrease, slowly leading to generalized fatigue that people associate with 'feeling old.' This can be reversed.

As a potent antioxidant, Coenzyme Q10 protects us from 'free radicals' -- highly reactive oxygen atoms or hydrogen ions -- that can damage our cellular DNA. Because of its constant pumping, the highest concentrations of Co Q10 are found in the heart. Most clinical studies on Co Q10 have centered on it as a viable treatment for cardiovascular disease. Over 30 years of research upholds its potential in the prevention and treatment of heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. When Coenzyme Q10 was added to standard treatments for heart disease, overall heart function and cardiac output showed gradual but constant improvement -- reducing fatigue, chest pain and palpitations. In some cases the recovery was dramatic, with overworked, swollen hearts returning to normal size on Co Q10 alone.

The new wunderkind of nutrition helps to:

• Prevent atherosclerosis (thrombotic plaques in arteries)

• Stabilize arrhythmia (abnormal heartbeats)

• Alleviate congestive heart failure (CHF)

• Counteract cardiovascular disease

• Improve the heart’s ability to survive heart attack from clogged vessels

• Lower blood pressure (by normalizing the sodium:potassium ratio)

• Reduce viscosity of blood in cases of ischaemic heart disease (IHD)

• Increase our protective antibodies by 2X

• Alleviate severe allergies

• Increase life expectancy in cancer of the lung, breast, prostate & pancreas

• Enhance immune system support and resistance to viruses

• Reduce blood sugar levels (by 20%) in cases of diabetes mellitus

• Accelerate weight loss in cases of obesity (averaging an extra 17lbs. lost)

• Reduce fatigue/improve energy and athletic performance

• Reverse mental deterioration and neuron damage in Alzheimer’s disease

With all these documented benefits and no serious toxicity reported, isn’t it time you added coenzyme Q10 to your list of daily supplements for anti-aging, anti-cancer, total body vitality and heart health?
