So I realized soon after Logan our little man was born he seemed to be a little smarter than average, more observant, alert, etc. Than as he started getting a little older other people started commenting on it & him. I also noticed if we did not keep him stimulated & keep him learning new & fresh things, he would tend to get into a lot of trouble. Logan would also get very bored & still does with things very easily.
I started reading on this & doctors, etc. say that it takes a certain kind of patients for parents, because the children can get frustrated, angry & things a lot easier than normal. When they are a toddlers age, they will figure things out faster, expect things to work right away, not understand when they think they have figured something out & why it does not work perfect. There are so many thing they go through, that you can see a lot or a little difference in the way other infants/toddlers deal & process things in their minds.
I remember when my neighbor who had her daughter the same time I had Logan. She use to tell me how she could just put her daughter in the crib as an infant & she would just watch a movie & wouldn't cry or anything. She would say that she would play with the same things & not through a fit very well tempered & so on. I remember I use to think, WOW that would be awesome just to have Logan to that 1/16 of the time.
I asked Logan's doctor about Logan not being like my neighbors child & yes I began to read more about it also. I was told & read that it is not always a good thing to have your child so mellow or so easily entertained. That is also when I found out more about how much our little man was processing & how fast, also a lot of how he is reasoning things out.
Don't get me wrong just because you may have a infant/toddler that is easily amused or is mellow or does not cry much doesn't mean they are average or below average. There are a lot more things that go on here to know how smart your child really is.
My advice to parents that know your infant/toddler is above average in smarts is to make sure you keep their brain stimulated. Toys that are for learning, special learning programs, if money is an option for these things. There are things out there that are specifically for stimulation of the brain.
If money is not an option you can be very creative yourself without having to spend the big bucks. Reading books to them, music, learning video's, incorporating learning numbers, colors & abc into fun things, etc. There are also lots of things to stimulate the brain that do not cost a small fortune & there is always good ole thrift stores. It takes work, research, trial & error, but soon you will know what is best for your infant/toddler.
Bottom line you know your child better than anyone else does.
