Chicago State University is situated at 9501 South Martin Luther King Drive, Chicago. Chicago State University opened on 2 September 1867 in Blue island, Illinois as a teacher training school. During these years, Chicago University has changed its name. The university has also changed the location. The Chicago State University keeps its educational mission. The University grew not only in Chicago but also it spread to the surrounding areas. Today the Chicago State University is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by Governor Illinois. At the earlier the University only had twenty seven rooms. It also had a model grammar school. In 1897, the school was in charge of Chicago Board of education. The Board changed its name to Chicago Normal School.

It had became Chicago Normal College in 1913 and later named Chicago Teachers College. Thus this institution has changed to college from a school. After this the State of Illinois had taken the control of the school in 1965. Then the name of the school had changed to Illinois Teachers College. It was in south of Chicago. After a few years the name changed to Chicago Stage College. This time the Chicago State emphasized to become a liberal arts institution by enhancing its academic programs. Finally in 1971 the school was renamed to Chicago State University. From this year it began to train pupils at the best level. The University also provided all the facilities and needs for the students.

The University has started with 62 students’ enrollment. But today the Chicago State University is a fully accredited public, urban institution. The University is located on 161 picturesque acres in a residential community on the Southside of Chicago. The current student enrollment is nearly 7,200. The Chicago State University has four colleges. These four colleges offer thirty six undergraduate and nineteen graduate degree courses. Moreover, Chicago State University allows students to study abroad.

The University has so many programs and courses for the students. These courses are so helpful and beneficial for all the students in the University. The University has all the faculties for the students. It has a good lab and a library. The University offers so many courses. At the undergraduate level, 36 degree and certificate programs and 29 graduate degree and certificate programs provide opportunities for research and advanced study. Students of this University can get training in all the fields and they can improve themselves.
