Angelo state university is an outstanding regional public university. It is located in San Angelo, Texas. The attractively landscaped campus is convenient to everyone and the college offers athletic, cultural options. Angelo State University is a member of the Texas Tech University System and for athletics the Lone Star Conference. Angelo State University doing almost 100 undergraduate programs of study at its college of Liberal and Fine Arts, College of Education, College of Business, and College of Sciences, College of Music, College of General Studies. Angelo State University also has offers 21 graduate programs. There is more than 6000 students are studying. Angelo State University as a residential college, college has nine residence halls on campus providing space for over 2100 students.

In 1928, when San Angelo College was established, in 1945 it is only a Country Junior College. Angelo State was created as Angelo State College in 1965 by an act of the 58th Session of the Texas Legislature in 1963.Angelo State University was awarded as a member of the Texas State University System in 1975. The first president of Angelo state university was Dr. Raymond M. Cavness.

The Robert G and Nona K. Carr foundation, established to provide scholarships for students. The first scholarships were awarded in 1981. By 2007 the scholarships was provided for one in every six Angelo State University students annually. Now Angelo State University is one of the most modern campuses in the state. In 2007, with the legislative approval and the governor’s signature Angelo State University move from the Texas State University System to the Texas Tech University System.

The expansion of the academic programs at Angelo State University, important steps have been taken in the development of a first rank faculty. Angelo State University offers over 100 bachelor’s degrees, 23 masters’ degree, and 1 doctoral degree programs. There are more than 1400 employees. Angelo State University employee’s has a strong work ethics, good communication, caring, loyalty, teamwork and integrity. Angelo State University offers job opportunities in teaching, information technology, athletics, students programs, and administrative departments, etc.

There are over 100 student’s organizations, which play an important role in the social scene at Angelo State. Angelo State University fully supporting the student organization program and encourages the students to participate and take full advantage of the opportunities. ASU sports teams participate in the NCAA, they have some of the best facilities available in NCAA II athletics, the students also participate in different sports.
