Presentations/Negative
Reaction of the Audience
1. Usage of Default PowerPoint templates. People who watch many presentations get sick and tired of them. Sometimes a simple gradient or a single color will look better that a beautiful but popular template.
2. Attempt to pass on a massive idea. People get tired and loose attention after trying to analyze too much information. Break large ideas in parts or do not use it.
3. Too long bullet points or too much text. Shorten it, divide it into parts, or dump it.
4. Incorrect combinations of colors. Color management is an art. If you do not have time to wield it just try to critically evaluate your color scheme every time to make a presentation.
5. Too bright or too dark colors. Adapt your scheme to your topic and goals. Happiness – bright, sadness – dark.
6. Low quality graphics. The best choice is vector graphics, for it will look great at any size. If you use bitmap images, mage them big enough.
7. Small text. Remember – your audience can be far away, but they must be able to read everything that is there in your presentation. Plan your presentation in accordance with the room it will be held in.
8. Indistinct fonts. Using fonts is another form of art, but try always to use only easily distinguished ones.
9. Too much music. Do not overload your presentation with sounds and music, it can be both annoying and distractive. Remember – you are not making a work of art you are using a professional instrument. Use it effectively.
10. Too much animation. Animation is good for attracting attention to some elements, but you should never overload your presentation with it. Better none at all than too much.
