Fake tanning can be achieved in various ways. This type of tanning has been developed in response to the dangers of natural sun tanning. Extensive or over exposure to sun tanning can cause cancer. Sun rays are most powerful fm 10 in the morning to 4 in the evening. Sun tanning lasts for approximately 2-4 months. Fake tans can last from 5-7 days depending on the skin type.

Using Dihydroxyacetone (DHA)
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products are those that contain DHA as an ingredient. There is a chemical reaction between DHA and the amino acids on the top most layer of the skin. It's similar to the browning process in food manufacturing. The process is quite similar to the action in the food industry commonly known as Maillard reaction. DHA has been approved by FDA and is also considered as non toxic and non carcinogenic.

The product is very safe
This process doesn't involve any skin pigmentation and protects against the harmful UVA and UVB rays. Those who are using the products for the first tie may see contact dermatitis. For this the fake tan product should be used on a small patch. If there are no rashes or redness after 24 hours, then this product can be safely used on all parts of the body. The product is used in gels, lotions and mousses.

For best results, the skin should be clean and dry. Dry skin gives a darker fake tan. Its best to swim and take a bath only after the tan has completely dried out and has been absorbed completely. Since the skin on hands and feet are thicker, thinner applications should be used on these areas of the body. Of course, people can use the professional expertise of the salons, gymnasiums and spas. It's hard to reach the back of the body. For this reason, get professional help or get a friend to help you out.

Getting professional help
Salons and spas also use tanning spray cans for applying the fake tan. There are spraying booths that also achieve the look. It resembles a shower cubicle and the lotion is sprayed inside the booth giving an even tan to the body. Airbrush spray cans are used by professionals using specialized equipment such as LVLP spray gun and HVLP spray gun equipment. The professionals use the spray by releasing a mist of the lotion covering the person from head to toe. Since the equipment is extremely portable, I can be used in many places such as beech kiosks, homes, and even at small shopping malls.

Tyrosine
Tanning accelerators which contain Tyrosine are also available in the market. This is an amino acid and stimulates the formation of melanin formation in the skin. These products are used in conjunction with natural tanning techniques for giving a more lasting effect of tanning.

These are some of the ways of getting a fake tan.
