Seven Card Stud:

This is article number 5 out of 6 of the "HORSE Poker Introduction Series".

Overview:

Seven Card Stud is the S in "h.o.r.s.e", seven card stud used to be the most popular game years ago, then come Texas Holdem and take that title, today you can find seven card stud in almost every casino around the world, you can find it on every poker room online, even though the tables may not be full, but you can find a lot of players in the big poker rooms.
It's common to play stud in limit style , and we'll play it limit also when you play it in h.o.r.s.e .stud and Texas Holdem are very much different game , all the stud games does not used community cards , unless when all the cards already been dealt the last card will be used as community card , but that almost never happen .

How to Play:

In 7 stud , as you can guess, each player been dealt 7 cards , some of them will be face-down ,so only the player can see them , and some will be face-up , so all the other players can see your 4 out of your cards .
In the end , your hand will looking like this : DDU-U-U-U-D ( D = face down , U = face up (at showdown , each player will choose 5 cards out of his seven cards to create the best possible poker hand , the player win the best hand will take the pot .

Remember the ability to see 4 cards out of your opponents hand becomes really big part of the game strategy.

Poker Lingo:

Ante: Amount of chips that each player have to pay in order to participate in the hand,
ante not used in all games but they commonly used in stud games .
Open-Ended: It's a straight draw that can be completed with two cards, for example you got 4, 5, 6, 7 in your hand, now you can make a straight with three or an eight, that open-ended.
