There are air borne diseases and water borne diseases. Among the waterborne diseases, dysentery is the biggest problem. Hepatitis, cholera, polio, typhoid, Wheel's Disease, etc also pose serious health threats during the rainy season.

Other health problems experienced during rainy season include asthma, arthritis, skin diseases, cold (cough, sneeze, phlegm), etc.

The Main Reasons for Outbreaks during Rainy Season

Lack of cleanliness, dirty surroundings, etc are the chief causes of disease outbreaks during rainy season. Most of the diseases are either airborne or waterborne.

How to Protect Yourself against Rain Time Diseases

Cleanliness is the most important aspect of protection against diseases that affect you during rainy season. Clean food, air and surroundings are all essential aspects.

Drink boiled water only. This way you can prevent diseases like cholera, dysentery and several other diseases. The water you get from rivers, ponds and wells can have impurities deposited from other places through running water.

Eat warm, liquid food – like rice/wheat porridge. Easy to digest food is essential.

Always wear dry and clean clothes. It is easy for the clothes to get wet and dirty during rainy season.

The monsoon season is generally a down month, for nature, for animals, for birds and for people.

Do exercise 30 minutes daily and you can avoid much diseases.

The season also has another specialty, as it is the month, where human body is more receptive to Ayurvedic medicines than it is in any other month. This is because of the special climate and the general receptiveness associated with the sluggishness of our body.
