The conversion rate of your website is measured by the number of customers going on to buy. In the terms of a website, it is usually the percentage of visitors that choose to buy. Whereas many websites squander by putting all their eggs in a single basket and concentrating too much on increasing the visitors. These websites are basically afflicted with some fairly simple problems, if solved, can dramatically increase their conversion rate.

This is no puzzle that will render confusion in your mind, believe me improving the conversion rate of your website is as simple as you would say “Yeh I already knew that “.

Here are few techniques to do so:

1) Making life easier for the user

You website should be a free flowing river, which does not pose any hurdles for it's visitors. Remember, the more complex is your website, more it will render confusion in the minds of its visitors. As they will feel distracted and this distraction will force them to flee away to your competitor’s website.

In the long run this will directly hamper the sales of your website…..

Let me tell you where it all went wrong?

a) Inaccessibility:

There are few un-professional web designers who try to design their own world on the website’s of their client, these websites do not confirm to the latest trends in the designing industry. These websites are generally are ridden by heavily loading images, complex architecture and confusing navigation path. The normal visitors to such websites tend to find themselves lost in dealing with the hurdles, imposed in their way due the inaccessibility of these websites.

This can affect your sales, depending upon how inaccessible your website is, as visitors find it impossible to use and prefer rather to go elsewhere.

b) Web Browsers

Most designers do not pay attention to the browsers like Mozilla or Opera. They justify themselves by saying that “More then seventy percent of the websites use IE , so, why we should think about others”. This directly means that they are ignoring the interest of thirty percent viewers to their website, and on an average the website will lose 10-15 percent in the sales.

Tip: So the next time you go for a web design, do not forget to check it in all major browsers like IE, Mozilla and Opera.

c) Website should have sales pitches sprinkled around:

While sailing through a website, sometimes, visitors tend to feel bored or distracted, that’s why the content in your website should have sales oriented pitches which would force them to act and often awake them from an occasional slumber.

Note: Sites I have worked on where call to action was imposed have reported steep rise from 3 percent to 8 percent in their sales figures.

d) Being credible:

Most people feel insecure while buying online, and rightly so. Internet has been witnessing plenty of frauds where millions of dollars were lost at the hands of hackers. So, when you are online, you browse the web with a whisker thought that the mischief is looming in the air. In this hostile atmosphere, it becomes even more crucial to give enough reasons to your potential clients so they can trust you.

You can easily purvey an air of credibility in the mind of your website visitors by having a professional website with great content. Since, the poorly designed website can send out waves of un professionalism. The visitors will dwell a feeling that if a company cannot afford a decent website for their business, then how can they sure that the order accepted by them would be dealt with importance, it deserves? On the other side if the content is ridden with errors, the same notion applies here — it will show how much pride you take in what you do.
