If you are intent on building your own however; there are a few things that you should bear in mind before you get started. Have a good plan in mind before you begin building and one good idea is to find one in your area that you can copy and that way you can go back and forth looking at it any time that you run into an problem.

Use Himalayan pine for your spa enclosures main frame, because it won't warp or crack when exposed to the elements. Also, 4 foot by 8 foot redwood lattice panels work great on the sides but they have to be cut and framed in properly and they can be fragile to work with.

Pre paint everything before hand with a good quality oil based primer with some high quality penterant added and you will be sure that your finished product will last. Decorative doors that function correctly are very difficult to build and install, so you may want to opt for a simple passageway instead.

Also one other thing to bear in mind is that when it comes to decorative carpentry it is just as difficult to build a small structure as it is to build a larger one. So, if you can afford the extra expense on materials that a larger spa enclosure will have, why not go with one that is going to have plenty of room?
