Cellulite is the expression used to describe pockets of fat which are trapped and cause dimpling in the skin. This dimpling is irregular and patchy and has been identified with orange peel.

Cellulite is a term that describes the appearance of bumpy looking fat on the body. It is a condition of bulging fat cells and other coexisting factors that result in the appearance of cellulite. We explain what cellulite is, what causes it, and what can and cannot be done to reduce it.

Cellulite is a skin alteration often described as an ‘orange peel,’ ‘mattress,’ or ‘dimpling’ appearance on the thighs, buttocks and sometimes lower abdomen of otherwise healthy women. Although some men may get it, 90-98% of cellulite cases occur in women. The name originated from the French medical literature over 150 years ago. The original name, cellulite, implies that it is a disease.

Cellulite is the lumpy substance resembling cottage cheese that is commonly found on the thighs, stomach, and butt. Cellulite is actually a fancy name for collections of fat that push against the connective tissue beneath a person's skin, which causes the surface of the skin to dimple or pucker and look lumpy.

Hormonal factors such as estrogen and folliculine also play a role in cellulite formation. Cellulite is for the most part found in women during their hormonal changes such as puberty, pregnancy, and menopause and also whilst taking birth control pills. A woman's hormones are usually responsible for the regulation of their blood flow, fat, connective tissue and lymphatic drainage.

Best Cellulite Treatment
Balance your hormones: Because cellulite formation is linked to estrogen levels, it is important that your hormones are well balanced. Gentle endocrine support can help get your hormonal balance back on track. Progesterone is a precursor to testosterone and estrogen. When your body is off-balance, especially during perimenopause, some people though not everyone can make what they need from progesterone and restore balance.
Cellulite Surgery: One of the problems with many of the more invasive treatments for cellulite reduction is that they tend to damage something else, especially the dermis. The only effective approach is in effect the reverse-making the dermis and vessels stronger and healthier.

Take a high-quality multivitamin: Fill in any nutritional gaps with a quality multivitamin/mineral complex such as the one we offer in our Personal Program. This will ensure your skin has all the building materials it needs. The right supplement should contain essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C.
Laser lipolisis: is a relatively new technique developed in Italy. It is performed with injections and involves the insertion of a fiber-optic laser through very small incisions that targets only the fat in the body. Amounts of 500 grams of fat can usually be absorbed and naturally excreted as waste by the body.

Although laser lipolisis was not designed for high-volume applications, larger volumes of fat can be liquefied and suction-aspirated. As with liposuction, this procedure targets fat cells that are not the cause of cellulite.

Reduce stress: When we are stressed, our bodies release adrenaline. Adrenaline naturally directs blood to our “fight or flight” muscles, such as the triceps, biceps and quadriceps, in preparation for defense or retreat. This means blood is redirected away from the skin, decreasing circulation and resulting in fewer nutrients delivered to skin tissue and less toxins removed.
