Studies indicate that chess for kids could be more than proper an activity to develop advanced intellectual functions in young children; this game actually enables the formation of skills such as analytic thinking, complex associations and so on. Chess for kids is very often included in the many free-time workshops organized by educational centers and schools; or you can choose to teach your children and play together at home. Online chess for kids or computer assisted learning programs are other great means of rising the children's interest in this perspicacity challenge.

Very few people are taught as children how to plan and act in order to succeed in a specific activity; individual learning is actually empirical in this first part of life and the trial-error pattern is the most common one. Hence, the use of chess for kids ensures the possibility to set and achieve objectives by an advanced thinking and planning. Don't feel guilty that you are trying to make your child a little β€œgenius”, kids take up to things they like naturally without the smallest effort; chess becomes just a chance to become more flexible and adaptable in reasoning, and thus be better prepared for life.

With the world-wide recognition as one great exercise for the mind, chess for kids is not just challenging – as children love competitions – but it is also creative and beautiful. How can you get your child to learn chess? The first thing you may do is to buy a nice set of chess and explain your kid the way it is played: this of course implies that you know the rules of the game yourself and that you make enough time for playing chess several times a week. From a psychological point of view, chess for children taught by parents strengthens the bonds within the family.

If you cannot teach chess for the children yourself, then you may find either a chess class or a tutor to show them all the secrets of the game. It is advisable that the child attend large groups where chess is played: workshops, clubs and so on; such circles actually enable children not only to have a great time but also to make friends and relate to other kids of various ages. We could definitely say that it is both a social and intellectual environment with the best of effects on the development of the mind.
