The Infiniti division was set up by Nissan two decades ago for consumers who want more than a simple vehicle. Throughout its stay in the auto market, the Infiniti brand has been associated with luxury, performance, and reliability. Recently, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. announced that the Infiniti brand will soon be available in Western Europe.
With this move, Nissan has brought the Infiniti brand into a market where it will go head-to-head with the biggest names in the industry including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi. This would complete the journey of the division in terms of expansion worldwide. The division will be hard-pressed to come up with vehicles which can compete with the leaders in its class.
"Infiniti is recognized globally for its blend of design, performance and luxury," said Nissan Motor President and Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn. It was Ghosn who helped Nissan fend off losing ventures and turned it around to what it is now. It is thus comforting to know for the division's sake that Ghosn is still the man on the helm during the expansion of the Infiniti marque in Europe.
"We are now ready to bring this unique brand to consumers in Europe," added Ghosn. The automaker headed by Ghosn will be counting on the crossover Infiniti EX37 on its invasion of the European auto market. The said crossover vehicles will be unveiled next month at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show.
Apart from the crossover, Nissan's luxury division will also rely heavily on the G37 and the G37 coupe. According to the automaker, the vehicles that Infiniti will be marketing in Western Europe will all be tuned to fit a European consumer. That includes delivering vehicles which adheres to the emission standards set by the European Union. Also, the performance of Infiniti's cars will be made to fit the demands of European car buyers.
Ghosn though pointed out that they are not looking to have a huge impact on the European car market. "Infiniti is not looking for huge market share in Europe," said Ghosn. "Europe is an opportunity to grow Infiniti and establish a solid base. The goal in Europe is to make sure that Infiniti is profitable, has long-term sustainability and that customer satisfaction is very high," he added.
Jim Wright, Vice President of Infiniti Europe said that they have a good shot at success in the continent. "In Europe, the Total Ownership Experience goes hand-in-hand with great products and with our high quality, well-capitalised retail centres network," said Wright
Surely, Infiniti vehicles to be marketed in Europe will be equipped with reliable parts as durable as Dodge bumper reinforcement. This is what Wright is pointing out talking about great products.
