Different diseases that affect prostate shows up in men aged 60 and above. Prostate cancer is the most serious prostate disease, which is the main cause of cancer death among men. Prostate enlargement is another problem.
Prostate is part of male reproductive system. It secretes a milky fluid that protects sperms.
Prostate enlargement is due to imbalances accumulated over a long time, which show at a later stage in life. A man must be cautious if he observes symptoms like frequent urination at night, feels like his bladder is not empty, difficulty in urination, weak urine flow, stopping and starting urination, etc.
Ayurveda considers overuse of shukra (reproductive tissue) the prime reason for prostate enlargement. Drinking less than enough water is another reason. Suppressing natural urges, especially the urge to urinate can trigger this condition. These are imbalances that get accumulated over time.
The reasons for prostate conditions are varied – long hours of restless work at office, lack of physical exercise, not including food items with detoxification powers (like turmeric flavored food items) and taking food that leads to accumulation of bodily wastes.
The safe method is taking preventive measures earlier in life. Lead an active life without going to any extreme lifestyles. Take food items that don't fall to any extremes of spicy, sweet, hot, or cold.
Take occasional break from work and do some stretching. Continuously sitting in the same posture can create problems later on.
Here are some tips to follow
• Drink lot of water daily.
• Minimize or better avoid alcohol use.
• Walk around for a minute after working continuously for an hour at your desk.
• Make sure you empty your bladder while urinating.
• Make sure you have regular bowel movements.
In addition, make sure you don't move to any extremes – at work, diet or lifestyle. These are steps you can take to prevent prostate diseases.
