Reaching your targeted web site traffic audience is a science. There is no such thing as guaranteed traffic, but there are many ways you can encourage traffic to your site. You want to attract visitors who are genuinely interested in your site. These people will spend time on your site and potentially buy. If you know the keywords that people use, and you happen to sell that product, then using those keywords will lead people right to you. This isn't guaranteed traffic, mind you -- just like studying isn't a guaranteed good grade. However, keywords sure help your chances.
Targeted web site traffic needs a focused site in order to work well. Remember that targeting people is by no means a source of guaranteed traffic. All you can do is design your site to be the best it can possibly be. Stay focused on what you are selling. Someone looking for movie memorabilia will visit that type of site and would not visit a site that sells fishing equipment, with an owner who also happens to have something from a movie lying about. Decide what you are selling -- and focus on that. If you want to sell something different, then build a new website and keep the two sites separate.
