A long, hot bath may be most relaxing moment of the day and the cherry on top is the feel of a comfortable texture - a soft and delicate towel to keep you warm and calm. It is the little things that we get used to everyday that we cannot live without. Besides the classical bath towels that we always use, there are also other types of towels: kitchen towels – and as an alternative to these there are paper towels we use to clean spilt drinks or as one time use tissues at the table-, tea or dish towels – used for drying crystal, dinnerware and fine bone china, beach towels – larger than bath towels with patterns, colors and models designed for the sunny season-, spa towels – most of which are customized for the spa where they are used and are more luxurious than usual ones-, sports towel or chamois – they are very absorbent and can have pockets or special straps for practicality - or sweat towels that are similar o kitchen towel in size and are slippery-resistant, used most frequently during work-outs.

Some towels are reshaped for practical purposes like the kitchen towel in the shape of a glove, used for handling hot recipients.Cotton the most popular material used for towels because it is durable, soft, withstand high temperatures, it is strong and it is easy to wash. Cotton towels can be Egyptian, Micro, Standard or Supima. Terrycloth is also very popular – this towel has loops on both sides and is very absorbent, not needing ironing. Other materials used for towels are linen – softer with every wash, durable, absorbent and with a clean look-, microfiber - Acrylic, Nylon, Polyester, Rayon-, velour – they have a plush look, ideal for customized imprints -, jacquard – for sports and working out -, suede – mainly used for cleaning – and rayon.

The most interesting part of towels is the material from which they are made or the embroideries and trims. Towels can become items of luxury due to their rare, expensive materials, like those designed for display only or especially used for certain occasion, with logos, initials, names or hand made embroideries – for example at a wedding or at select parties. Also some towels can be part of a custom like oshibori, a wet towel used in Japan for washing one’s hands before eating. In spas, there are wet towels available for facial treatments. These are made of very delicate materials and are usually soaked in hydrating or calming lotions.
