What, you've never heard of using retractors while fishing? Well you're about to, and I think you'll be glad you did. Retractors are a great addition to any anglers repertoire because of the incredible convenience they offer the average angler. How many of you bite your line after tying knots or when you need to break your line for some reason? Probably most of you. I know I used to. That is until I was introduced to the retractor. You see, with a retractor, you can have a small pair of nail clippers ready for use whenever you need to snip your line. Many retractors come with a clip that enables you to easily add a pair of nail clippers and be good to go. With the help of a retractor, you simply grab your nail clippers, use them, and release them. The retractor then zips them right back up!
What about your hemostats for hook removal? Where do you keep them? In a pocket of your fishing vest? With the help of a retractor, your hemostats can literally be hanging from your fishing vest, belt, or shirt, waiting to be used. Then when the hemostats are needed, simply grab them, use them, and release them. The retractor will zip them right back up. The days of leaving your hemostats beside the river or lake are long gone if you begin employing a retractor.
For any lightweight fishing equipment that gets used often, retractors are a must have. How much will your dentist like the fact that you don't have to bite your fishing line any more? For that fact alone, a retractor is worth the few dollars they may cost you. Hemostats and nail clippers are only two of the many items that can be clipped onto a retractor. The more time you can spend with your line in the water the better, and retractors help you spend more time with your line in the water. The time you used to spend digging through your pockets can now be spent with your line in the water (where the fish are).
