Description
The Siemens SX1 is powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP 310 processor, running at a clock speed of 130MHz. The operating system is a dated Symbian OS 6.1, which is adept at handling all the rigors of a smart phone, and conservative enough to keep the battery running for 200 hours on standby. The phone has a very high feature list and very good performance, but there is some controversy over the non-standard keypad arrangement, which has elicited praise from some users and criticism from others.

Features
The Siemens SX1 is a triband GSM phone with a large 2.2 inch 176 x 220 pixel colour screen. The LCD screen is quite bright .The phone features standard office productivity options like Email client, web browser, word and spreadsheet, PowerPoint, PDF viewer, etc. While the internal memory is sparse at just 16MB, you can buff up the storage capacity to 1GB by using the MMC slot. The integrated camera can shoot pictures at VGA resolution (640x480), and the photo quality is quite impressive. All the standard connectivity options like USB, IR and Bluetooth are supported by the SX1. The phone does have its limitations; battery talk time is rated at a 4 hours which is average. The phone has a very high feature list which include; OS - Symbian OS v6.1, Series 60 v1.0 UI, Java MIDP 1.1, Self-update capability with downloaded firmware, Messaging - SMS, EMS, MMS, Email, Browser - WAP 2.0/xHTML, Clock, Alarm (repeated), Games (Bluetooth multiplayer) - Also 3rd party games available for downloads, Camera - 640×480 pixels resolution (VGA) camera with night shot. Conclusion
Although the Siemens SX1 has all that it takes to be a great smart phone and at a very affordable price, its unconventional looks needs a bit of getting acquainted to. It's the most inexpensive phone in its group, and is a good buy despite everything. If you are looking for a phone that runs on the Series 60 platform that is packed with features and don't care much about the design, then this is the phone for you. Though battery life is on the weak side, Siemens compensates with a rich multimedia experience, booming audio and a good camera that rivals other smart phones on the market.
