Every man has secretly dreamed of being a King for the day - or a Laird or Monarch depending on where his allegiances lie! It may be that he struggles to even attain dominium over the living room or his shed, but when it comes to birthdays, Christmas and other gift occasions, you can help him to achieve his dream of Kingly status with some regal gifts for him!
Of course it's unlikely that your budget will run to a castle - or even a crown - however there are plenty of gifts for him which blend luxury and classic status for the ultimate in high living. Combined together with a few treats such as a fancy pub lunch, a better class of ale and maybe even a few cups of tea from his loyal subjects, you'll certainly be able to put a smile on his face and make him feel like a King in your eyes at least for the day!
Fortunately the advent of online shopping has made the selection of gifts for him a whole lot easier, no longer necessitating extended dull trips to the shopping mall or busy weekend high street. You can happily search for an excellent array of gifts in style and comfort - possibly drinking a glass of wine and sitting under a throw, while your domestic Laird innocently flicks channels on the TV, not realising that you are working away hard to create a special surprise for him. Bear this in mind when he starts to irritate you with incessant football coverage, when he knows that Coronation Street is about to come on - it's great to have the moral high ground!
On his high horse!
Your own King will need gifts for him that celebrate his superior talents in the traditional fields of horse riding, surveying estates and generally being regal. Just in case he's not had much practice at any of these things, start from scratch with a Horse Riding experience day. These type of gifts for him are great for creating lasting memories, and even better you can go along and cheer your Knight on from the sidelines as he grapples with his trusty steed! The experience lasts half a day and starts with a beginner's horse riding lesson, followed by a 90 minute ride across the beautiful heaths and grasslands of the New Forest. The ancient wild forest is full of wild ponies and herds of wild deer. Just don't let your King start shooting at any of them - as food will be forthcoming after his trek with a BBQ back at the stables! The New Forest is the perfect setting for this regal experience as it was the hunting ground of great British kings right back to William the Conqueror - so your own liege will be following in their footsteps!
Time for a drink - gifts for him that tickle his taste buds
After a hard day's riding, ruling the lands and keeping marauding peasants under control, your King will need to return home and relax, probably with a regal takeaway from the local Tandoori. As it's his special day, allow him such sins as putting his feet on the coffee table and insisting on watching 'the best of' goal DVDs and treat him to the second part of his special day - a bottle of ten year old 'Bar de Sigognac' Armagnac! This is a deluxe brandy and the perfect way to round off the day. It's presented in a luxury box lined with silken material and a personalised message on the front. Just don't let the household king overindulge, or attempt to drink it from a mug - remember, these gifts for him are of the highest quality and should be enjoyed in moderation!
All your hard work in creating the perfect day for your very own domestic lord will no doubt have put a big smile on his face, and you can feel very pleased with yourself knowing that you've made his day special and made it one to remember. Just don't let the king-like attitude cross over beyond midnight- you'll need him to crack on with those DIY and car washing duties after all. Hopefully given the fantastic lengths you went to create his special day, he'll be inclined to prepare something similarly excellent for when your own birthday comes around.. however it's best not to leave such things to chance, so feel free to resort to the old female tactics of leaving out open brochures, or open internet pages linking directly to particular gifts if you want to ensure that you are as equally impressed with your presents when the time comes around!
