It’s important to take care of you luxury towels and luxury bed linens so you can enjoy them for longer. Using reasonable care can significantly retain the colours and shape of your bed linens and towels, prolonging their life. The biggest mistake that most people make is not realizing that some common ways of washing and drying can cause permanent damage to your bed linen and towels. I have managed to compile some information on proper washing and drying to help you preserve your favourite luxury linens and luxury towels for longer.
Taking care while washing your luxury linens.
Rinse your luxury linens thoroughly while washing, as poor rinsing can cause damage to your linens by leaving detergent residues on the sheets that will scorch when ironed. Poor rinsing can also cause your clothes to turn yellow with time.
Do not overload and allow full circulation of water if washing in a machine. Make sure the water is hot enough to dissolve the detergent completely in water. I suggest putting your sheets and towels through two full wash and rinse cycles with a minimum amount of a gentle soap or enzyme detergent. The second cycle ensures that all traces of detergent have been removed.
Use non-chlorine bleach sparingly to avoid weakening of fibres or disintegration.
Wash your towels properly as you will be using them again directly on your skin. Use mild detergents to wash your towels as if washed with rough material; you will end up losing some of your towels fibres.
Taking care while drying your luxury linens.
Dry your bed linens and towels in fresh air and sunshine. Make sure that the dark coloured bed linens are not left in the bright sun for a long time as this will discolour the linen from prolonged exposure to suns rays.
If you are using dryers, make sure to remove your luxury linens from the dryer while they are still slightly damp. This will protect the finish and fibres of your linen fabric.
Do not mix different types or colours of linens and towels in the same load. It is better to wash dark and light coloured clothes in separate loads. Do not use liquid fabric softener, bleach, colour safe bleach or bleach alternatives.
Do not pull the loose threads; instead clip any loose threads with scissors.
