Gurbaksh Chahal, more commonly known as “G” is possibly America’s most eligible bachelor who lives in a breathtaking penthouse overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Chahal’s is a classic rags-to-riches story.
Gurbaksh Chahal was born in the town of Tarn Taran, near Amritsar in Punjab (India). In 1985, his parents received a visa for America through a lottery-based system in India. At the age of 4, he immigrated to the United States with his family and settled in San Jose, California. Gurbaksh came from a strict and disciplined background where education was compulsory, so he went to public schools all throughout his early life in San Jose. Chahal believed that life is all about risks and the definition of failure is only when you let fear take over your instincts. Even as a teenager, Chahal was an avid risk taker. Therefore, he chose a different route as his career path.
At 17, he knew little about girls, but was making $300,000 a month from the Internet advertising company he founded in his bedroom. Click Agents, his first company, was one of the first online ad networks to focus on the needs of performance-based advertisers, rather than brand advertisers. Just two years later, in November 2000, ValueClick agreed to buy ClickAgents for $40 million in stock, making him a multi-millionaire by the age of 18.
At just 21, he went on to found his second company “BlueLithium”. BlueLithium was the next generation ad network focusing on data, optimization and analytics, and was a pioneer of behavioral targeting. Under his leadership, BlueLithium was named one of the top 100 private companies in America and in 2006 received highest honor as Top Innovator of the Year. After some time, Yahoo bought BlueLithium for $300 million.
Recently, Chahal launched his third start up “gWallet”, a new ecommerce solution. gWallet is designed to help mitigate the financial burden of purchasing goods with an easy to use online platform that helps shoppers find the best deals on the Web.
Gurbaksh Chahal is accustomed to risk. That’s how the 26-years-old Indian American raised in San Jose built an Internet fortune for himself, and he is not going to stop taking chances any time soon. To know more about Gurbaksh Chahal, please visit the site http://www.chahal.com .
