You don't need professional photographers for poster printing. If you are in a tight budget and need to print posters with images of your products or other objects, or even models for that matter, you can easily do it at home with a digital camera and some other elements. In this guide, we will share with you five simple steps on how to make good home made photographs for poster printing.

1. Collect your materials – First, you need to collect your initial materials. You will need a digital camera of course and a nice tripod if you can for steady pictures. You may also need lighting. Desk lamps and reading lamps are best for this since they are easily adjustable, and they usually have brighter lights. The more lights you have the better, but try to be consistent and use fluorescent or incandescent lamps only. Also try to get a uniformly colored large cloth like a white bed sheets or something similar to serve as your main background and as coverings for tables and stools. Finally of course, you may need some tables, stools and of course the things you need to photograph.

2. Find a nice wide space – Next, try to find a nice location that is a bit wide for your photo shoot. It can be a nice empty room, a rarely passed hallway, a garage or even the back of your house. Having a wide place is important since you want some freedom of movement to get the best angles for your photograph.

3. Setup your background – Now, once you have a location in mind, it is time to set the background. Using chords or strings, setup one side of your area with a white or full colored wall with your bed sheet or something similar. White of course would be the best color for the background, but any kind of light colored sheet should do. Of course it needs to be uniform and there should be no designs, splotches or other smudges in the background. This will serve as your main background which can easily be digitally changed or taken out if needed once you get your images.

4. Arrange your lights – Next, the lights. The best lighting for most photo shoots is to have all angles covered. This means that there must be almost no shadows that appear in your photograph object or model. So cover the front, sides and the top of your product with lights. Of course if you do want shadows for effect, then eliminate some lights so that you get a shadow. Generally however, you would want every single angle covered with light so that your product looks its best.

5. Take your photos - Great! Once your lighting is up, then all you need to do is place your object or model in the position or pose that you want and then click a way. As a good rule, you should take as many shots as you want to so that you can have plenty of options to choose from once the poster design stage happens. Get multiple angles of your object, switch between different poses, and even try some unique shots like action shots. You can also wrap your lights in colored cellophane if you want so that you can have a different color hue in your pictures.

Wonderful! That should do the trick. If you placed the lights well, and you got as many shots as you can for your objects, you should relatively have a nice professional looking image for use in your poster printing. No one will never know the difference between a professional studio and your shots. Great right?
