Your company’s relationship with the press is an important thing to take care of. One of the best tools to achieve this goal is through folder printing and of course the Press Kit. Press kits are usually made up of presentation folders, press releases, brochures and other public relation materials. They basically carry the whole weight of a firm’s public image on their collectively printed shoulders. That is why making the best possible press kits and press kit elements are crucial in an ongoing press relations campaign. One of the first crucial elements that you should focus on in making a press kit is the folder printing itself for the kit.

Folder printing: Folder printing for a press kit is just like printing presentation folders for business presentations or reports. The pocket folder, or full sized folder for your press kit is basically the container, the gift wrapper and the image carrier for your business all in one package. Your folders must be printed in full color, with a nice design printed on its cover depicting your company’s corporate philosophy. Of course the company logo must be prominently displayed in the presentation folder so that you can emphasize who or where this press kit is from. The company’s tagline or slogan must also be printed with it, just to reinforce the public image that you are trying to foster.

The primary aim of folder printing for press kits is basically to impress the reporters and writers. You want your first or even your current image in their eyes as the best possible that you can give. They should see you as the respectable, dynamic and friendly firm that cares about how the public sees them. So always aim to impress, and aim for an image with your company philosophy in mind.

Press releases / articles: The second thing that you should worry about is your press releases or articles. This press kit element is more on the realm of literature than art. They must be written with an air for news as well as marketing. For press releases, it is important to achieve a balance of news reporting conciseness, with a healthy dose of the feature writing lightness of things. You aim for this style of writing so that the reporters won’t get bored too much with your articles. It must not be too much like news to sound boring, and it must have the correct kind of light hearted tones without sounding too much like fiction. If you achieve this, your press kit should become a really interesting read for most press people.

Supplemental materials: Besides the color folders and the press releases, you can also have other various marketing materials as part of your press kit. You can have your company brochures, product catalogs, marketing postcards and even your own business cards as crucial parts of your extensive press kit. Basically you should put everything and anything in your press kit that relates to the public image of your company. Try to organize these supplemental materials in such a way that they fit nicely imbuing the materials with a sense of completeness on to them. You can do this in several ways. For example, try to have card slits added to your folders so that your business cards can easily be displayed and stored into them. Your pockets in the folders should also be thick enough and strong enough to hold those various marketing materials as well in different key places that maximizes their attractiveness. Once you do some of these things and you should be well on your way in establishing an organized press kit. A well organized press kit with supplemental materials is the mark of a true professional in press kit design.

Those are the major things that you need to know for press kit making. From folder printing to supplementary materials, each part is crucial in creating a good looking press kit. Take care of these essential parts and you should be able to produce nice and well defined press kits for your future projects with the media.
