You know that you want to attend college, but you also know that it costs a lot of money to do that, money that you might not currently have. One way to get tuition money is to get recruited by a college lacrosse team. In order for this to happen, you will need to be proactive in your approach to college lacrosse recruiting by making some specific choices during your high school years.
One choice you can make that will get you on your way with lacrosse recruiting is to begin by doing a little research of different colleges that you might like to attend. Although you will want to play for a college that has a great lacrosse team, your main focus should be on academics and whether or not the college offers the types of programs and classes that you want. You will also want to investigate the college lacrosse recruiting coaches and scouts that work at each college. You will want to make a list of all the potential colleges you might attend, and write down the names of the lacrosse coaches and contact information for each of them. If you visit the college's website, you will find a link to their sports department, which will give information about whether or not the college offers lacrosse recruiting camps and tournaments.
There are other things you can do that will help you with lacrosse recruiting. As soon as you think you would like to pursue an athletic scholarship, you will want to talk to your high school coaches, as well as your parents. Both can be of great help in assisting you in reaching your college lacrosse recruiting goal.
Another step you can take as you work your way through the lacrosse recruiting process, after you have done your research of colleges, is to sign up to attend some of the lacrosse recruiting camps. There are three great reasons why it makes sense to participate in lacrosse recruiting camps. One is that at lacrosse recruiting events you will have some of the actual college coaches offering training and tips, so you will learn a great deal and improve your game. Another is that lacrosse recruiting coaches that are not teaching at the lacrosse recruiting camps often attend the camps to watch the players, so the camps offer a great way to get noticed by college lacrosse recruiting coaches and scouts. Finally, attending a camp is a super way to actually get on a campus that you are considering attending, so in your spare time off the field between lacrosse recruiting activities you can check out the classes and departments, as well as the food and housing, and see if you like it. If you do, it can help you narrow down the schools where you would like to attend, and then you can focus on them to get recruited.
