If you are a high school student who dreams of attending college on a lacrosse sports scholarship, you are probably aware that the competition is fairly fierce for those coveted spots on a college sports team. However, there are several steps that you can take so that college lacrosse recruiting coaches and scouts will remember you, including being prepared and organized before attending lacrosse recruiting camps, where your preparation will pay off.

The first item you can take care of in your preparation phase before attending lacrosse recruiting camps is to do a little homework. Go online and explore the colleges that you are thinking of attending. After looking at the classes each offers and who teaches them, you should next head over to the college's lacrosse department. Make note of the names of the coaching staff, as well as current team players, so that you will be able to address them by name when you attend college lacrosse recruiting events. Look at the team's record under the current coaches as well. All of these bits of information will influence which colleges you might like to attend.

Another area to look at on the college website is their requirements for attending the college. You will need to earn certain grades, have taken certain prerequisite classes, and also have a certain score on the SAT. All of this can be discovered in advance of a lacrosse recruiting event on the college website, so you can plan ahead in terms of taking college entrance tests, as well as keeping your grades up in high school.

After this initial lacrosse recruiting search, make up a list of the top five or ten schools that you might like to attend on scholarship. You can now focus your attention on this short list as you progress through lacrosse recruiting, so as to improve your chances of getting noticed and picked up by one of the colleges on your list.

Another important way to get positive notice is through attending lacrosse recruiting camps held at colleges on your short list. Before you attend a camp, however, you will want to make sure to provide the lacrosse recruiting staff with a video of you playing a full game, in addition to game highlights. Send a cover letter with the lacrosse recruiting video, giving your name, the position you play, as well as your jersey number, so that college lacrosse recruiting scouts can find you easily on the video. Also send a note to the lacrosse recruiting staff letting them know which camps you will be attending, so that they will be looking for you.

When you attend a camp, make a point of introducing yourself to the college lacrosse recruiting coaches. Also attend any special training sessions held off the field for camp participants. All of these activities will help the college lacrosse recruiting scouts remember you, and remember that you were prepared and ready to go at every opportunity, thus making a favorable impression.
