Want to say it with flowers? Well you had better chose the right florist. These days, florists do more than just tie a ribbon around some flowers and send them on their way. A good florist will now also offer special messaging services to accompany your gift. Gifts quite often include food hampers, alcohol, chocolates, beauty vouchers, books and artwork alongside breathtaking bunches of flowers.

First up, before you decide which florist will best carry your special message to its intended destination, you should do some research.

• Ensure the florist delivers to your area.
• Ensure the florist is open on the day you wish your gift to be delivered.
• Ensure the florist has the seasonal flowers or food you may wish for in stock.

When you have chosen a florist, look for value-adding services to get the most for your money. Does a certain florist offer free delivery during certain hours of the day or on certain days of the week? Does your florist have a special on which means it is more economical to send two bunches of flowers instead of just one?

You will typically be asked to add a personalised message to your gift. A good tip is to ensure all names and addresses are spelt correctly! Florists prepare and send off hundreds of orders per day, so don't assume they know how you spell your surname or have heard of your street address before!

Also make sure you order well ahead of time if you are sending flowers or gifts on a special occasion day - such as Valentines Day or Mothers Day. Many florists run out of red roses on Valentines Day because they have had so many pre-orders to fill during the weeks leading up to the event. Don't leave ordering your gift until the last minute, as you, and your intended recipient may be very disappointed.

If you don't have time to get down to your local florist you can order flower and gift arrangements and sort out your delivery details online.
