Naked Day: Coming Back to Nature

                                                                                         

“Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.” Genesis 3:3

In the Book of Genesis, God made Adam and Eve, just like any other animal – Naked. That nudity was beautiful and pure. Neither Adam nor Eve was aware of being Naked. It was only when, the serpent tempted them to have the Forbidden Fruit, they were aware of being Naked and started covering them up with fig leaves. Let's not go into the speculation of this story being true or not. Whether one believes in Evolution or Creation, the Adam and Eve story does prove that Nudity is what you perceive it to be. Nudity has two sides of the coin – while most say its obscene, few do say it is not. Nudity is defined as the state of wearing no clothing. Presently, most cultures do not accept public nudity.

When a child is born, he is born naked and he isn't ashamed of it. It is only when people around him (often parents), tell them that he is naked and he needs to cover up, the child is conscious of it. He is ashamed of his own body. The child is born pure, and to him all things are pure. He has not been introduced to the concept of obscenity, yet. The world injects things in his mind, and he starts believing them. As photographer, Paul Outer Bridge, Jr says, “Nudity is a state of fact; lewdity, to coin a phrase, is a state of mind."

May 4th is Naked Day. Now we might think, do we need a day to call it Naked Day? It sounds quite bizarre to have a Naked Day. But, in the present world, people have polluted their own mind and other minds too, when it comes to the human body. While God created purity, man made obscenity. The most gifted and also the most complicated creation of God (human beings) have made double standards. According to man, nudity is to be practiced only behind locked doors, and not in public. Animals never practice double standards like human beings. They remain the same in private and public. In a way its kind of hypocrisy, that man practices. “We are so narrow minded that we show war, murder, rape, etc. on TV, but we do not allow to show one of the most wonderful creations (the human body) in its natural form." Observing Naked Day on May 4 is just an endeavor to bring back the innocence of being Naked, just as we were born. Forgetting the years of obscene teachings we had from the world; let’s for once soak ourselves into the spirit of Nature. Lets be one with Nature on Naked Day. We were born Naked and shall die naked. While on this earth, we wear false clothing that’s the insult to the beautiful creation of God – the human Body. Have a Happy Naked Day. Give up your inhibitions and be one with Nature.
